hello, i simulate the problem of springback in U beding process, please i want to see the effect of the hold time of the punch on springback, can you help me how do that, it means how to put the punch on the blanc for a defined time then remove the punch.

While doing excavation analysis of tunnel ( plane strange) in abaqus, I need to create a contact surface on excavated boundaries. In my model, first I gave initial loading, then run first step as geostatic and created equilibrium and subsquently I used static general and also deactived the surface where I need excavation boundaries by model change.further I need to create a contact surface on the excavated boundaries. Please some one help.

I am trying to simulate temperature distribution in the turning operation for that I am planning to consider the coating on the cutting tool so can anyone help me out how can I model a tool with a thin coating on it. I have all the properties of the tool and the coating.

I'm a student from University of Padova (Italy)

I'm doing my master thesis in Civil engineering. I'm using Abaqus for modelling a pier of a bridge suffering scour. Scour is simply removal of soil around the bridge pier. My aim is to understand how vertical displacement varies and grows as a function of the progressive removal of material around the foundation.

I tried to model 3 different situations:

1st: Pier + Foundation and soil without removal
2nd: Pier + Foundation and soil with scour removal
3rd: Pier + Foundation and soil with scour removal greater than thew previous.

For now, results show a bigger vertical displacement without removal. It is not possible.

I would like to carry a dynamic analysis starting from soil undisturbed then progressively remove parts (=piece of soils) during the analysis.

Is it possible with Abaqus? How can i do it?

First of all create xy data, for example displacement in two node.
Then operate on xy data by subtract two variables.

How to plot relative displacement as contour plot ( Not X Y data) in abaqus? More elaborately, i have a gap and in that gap some other material filled and due to temperature difference deformation happened. I need to plot displacement w.r.t mid plane or mid node of that gap.

Hello everybody,

I'm working on a model in which I have pressure field and a shell that's not normal to the field. How should I model the load?

I tried to create a pressure field in the direction I want but the intensity of the field on my shell results increasing from the origin to the surface's end (when it should be constant). Did I model something wrong?

An other way to model this should be to split the pressure in normal (that means simple normal pressure) and tangential (that means cutting force).
Make this sense?

What is the best way to solve this problem according to you?
